Stand by Your Man

December 6, 2009

Unfortunately another woman has fallen to an adulteress husband.  But sadly some of these women have their dirty laundry aired for the world to see.  It is all to often lately that celebrities are straying from their responsibilities as a husband.  What is remarkable is that these women have stood by their man during these unbelievable times in order to help preserve their image and career.  Why?  They have completely trashed theirs!  Marie Clair recently published the “Biggest Scandals of 2009″http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/celebrity/best/10054/1/0/scandalous-celebrity-affairs.html

NJ Governor Jim McGreevy

Some will stand by their man forever, such as Hilary Clinton, which is my eyes one of the worst adultery scandals I know of.  Then there is the case of Jim McGreevy’s wife who stood beside her husband with a smile as he announced on national TV that he had gay relations while married to her.  Only to turn around later and leave him.  I think that these women are normal women that have been broadsided by a horrible situation and they are not given enough time to think about the situation because the media had begun to post and humiliate them before they have digested what has happened.  One woman, in my eyes, who has undergone such scrutiny, is North Carolina governor Mark Sanford’s wife.  She kicked his butt to the curb and did not submit herself to the media and their antics.

I feel sorry that this has happened to them but most of all I am sorry that they have been thrown into the unfair media coverage.

Latest Supermarket Tabloid

November 29, 2009

StarAt my latest trip to the supermarket, I came across one of the new tabloids “Best and Worst Beach Bodies “.  Of course it was one of the magazines where most of their information is not validated and completely made up.  In my opinion, all of the bodies look fine to me.  Most of us would give anything to look as good as what the magazines are saying is awful.  The sad thing is that paparazzi and people just looking to write a story seem to forget that besides being a celebrity they are real people too.  Not always are their bodies perfect like on TV or the runway.  Some of the photos do not even look legit, but I still found myself engulfed in reading this trash on the checkout.  Not to mention when I stopped to see my mother-in-law she had it on the table, so obviously it sells!

So I guess the big question is why?  Is it because we like to see celebrities have the same flaws as we do?  What ever it is it’s a shame anyone has to feel this way.  But when you look back, this topic graces the cover of tabloids all the time.

Shocking Lyrics

November 11, 2009

Driving to work this morning I happened to hear Toby Keith’s new song “Runnin Block”.

Now for those who do not know Toby Keith he is a country singer who has taken home many awards for his music.  He has written many songs in addition to singing and producing hundreds of others as well as own his own music label.  He is one of the most patriotic people you could ever meet.  He is constantly supporting our troops currently serving overseas in addition to performing on several occasions for them.  I have always enjoyed his music, your either laughing or crying. HOWEVER, this new song shocked me and quite frankly its wrong to heavy women. Take a listen to the live video and tell me what you think.

Here are the lyrics:

Toby-Keith-Event

My buddy said his girlfriend is as pretty as can be
He said help a brother out tonight and come double date with me
She’s gotta a baby sister and they’re headed into town
They’re lookin’ for a good time
They’re fun to be around

I said what do she look like?
He scratched his head and stated
“She was a home comin’ football queen before she graduated.
We’ll wine and dine and do ’em fine
and really double date ’em
Then take ’em back to the motel six and
Try to separate ’em.

They showed up in a pick up
They were right on time
His was kinda hefty
But not half as big as mine

I’m runnin’ block
Turn the lights down low
Runnin’ block
Don’t want know one to know
That I tried to drink her skinny but she’s still about 215
Sometimes you got to bow up
And take one for the team

She cleaned her plate at dinner
Then she ate what’s left of mine
Then she wolfed down a big cheesecake as I drank all the wine
She strolled out to the patio for an after dinner cig
I said “Bro you done ‘er this time and gonna owe me big

You know why?
‘Cuz my brother’s havin’ a party
Thought you outta know
He’s got coeds swimmin naked

ANGELINA JOLIE

October 15, 2009

I recently watched the movie WANTED with Angelina Jolie.  It was another one of her action packed adventures.  Mostly unrealistic, similar to Tomb Raider and Gone in 60 Seconds, but yet has awesome graphics.   I have always viewed her as beautiful. In my opinion, I have enjoyed most of the movies I have seen with her in it. She is a great actress, a devoted humanitarian both her and her husband.

But now I see her as just another mother, of I think 5 now. However, my husband views her differently.  Like most husbands he sees the sex symbol the movies and media portray her to be. Which I do to, however, I, can’t help but see her as a mother now and how she is always trying to protect her children from the media/paparazzi coverage.  It’s a shame someone has to go in hiding in order to give birth.  But you never hear to much from her, especially when all over the tabloids it’s “Brad looks to Jen for help” or “Marriage on the Rocks” .  I can help but think that these mostly untrue stories effect her in some way.  Just not something I would  want to see plastered across magazines and TV.

I do give this woman kudos for balancing motherhood and this line of work.

LIONESS’

October 5, 2009

This post is a dedication to the women of the military!  I recently watched the documentary LIONESS.  Excellent film!!!  This film follows the reunion of a group of women who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  They were engineers, mechanics, supply clerks etc.  They were the behind the scenes heros, until the Marine Corp started home invasions they were in need of female troops to search Iraqi women.  The film follows these women as they are thrown in to direct combat war, even though it is against US policy for women to participate in direct combat active war fare.  They are never recongnized as heros let alone as participating.  I feel that these women should be treated the same as the men who went out on these missions in the dead of night, especially when they were not trained to handle the direct combat they came upon.

Being a women in the military is a rough thing, as I could never imagine leaving my children for a 14 month tour.  Kudos to those who can.  I did find one media outlet that is focusing on women in the military.  The New York Times is running a series of articles on WOMEN IN THE MILITARY.  Last sunday, Sept 27th was the first of the series. Here is the link to the article:

They recongized women’s sacrifice is as big as the men who are serving and the other trouble that entail being female and a soldier.  As a mom of three young children, who tucks them in every night, I have so much to be thankful for!! Thanks to soldiers like them.

Kate Gosselin

I was always a fan of the show Jon & Kate Plus 8.  Many people find Kate to be high strung and horrible to what is now almost her ex-husband. HOWEVER, she has 8 children, very small children, that brings about a lot of stress and the need to stay organized and methodical.  The media has assisted in destroying what was once a twice a week gig for this family.  Not that her husband running around with several different women has not assisted in the media attention of this Pennsylvania family.  I just think that I have read in some ridiculous media magazine, Kate diserved this because of the way she treated Jon.  Why does anyone diserve to be humiliated by her husband, NATIONALLY?  I also see that she has some of her family blogging about her lately? http://www.canada.com/story_print.html?id=1651606&sponsor

I feel that the media’s portrayal of this women is not a fair one.  Yes, she is on TV by her choice, but who really wants every part of their life known.  Part of me feels she should have called it quits, but then again it is paying the bills.   Any comments or thoughts on this one???  I have not seen the show since it came back on with the new season, but who needs to watch the show when it’s been the front page of most magazines lately!
